What is NAD+?
Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+) is the active form of a coenzyme that is an essential component of chemical reactions that occur in all of our cells. These reactions regulate nearly every body process.
Be careful of other products marketing themselves as NAD. NAD+, NADH and NR (Nicotinamide Riboside) are not the same. Although NAD+ plays a role in the same pathway as NADH and NR, there are certain NAD+ consuming reactions where only NAD+ can be utilized. In these reactions, NADH and NR are not effective. While NADH and NR are less expensive than NAD+, the positive effects are not nearly as potent as NAD+. BR+NAD and our REAL NAD+ tablets are the purest forms of NAD+ available.
NAD+ is Involved in Two Major Functions:
Energy Production. NAD+ helps to turn carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the body into useable energy via the Citric Acid Cycle (Krebs Cycle). What is the Course of Treatment for NAD+?
Treatment strategies at Klarity Clinic are individualized.
We currently offer “weekend” treatments consisting of two 8-10 hour IV infusions of NAD+ over two consecutive days. These treatment durations allow for a larger amount of NAD+ to be delivered directly to the body’s tissues, allowing depleted stores to be replenished.
For those just looking for a quick “boost”, we also offer subcutaneous injections of smaller doses of highly concentrated NAD+ that take only a few minutes or reduced dose IV infusions that take only 1-2 hours.
We also offer NAD+ injections or infusions in conjunction with our ketamine and/or intravenous multivitamin/nutrient (Myer’s Cocktail, glutathione, etc.) therapies in order to maximize the beneficial effect of the treatments.
Klarity Clinic is planning to offer longer “detox” treatments soon consisting of IV NAD+ therapy over an 8-10 day period.
What Can I Expect During the NAD+ Treatment?
A brief assessment will be conducted on the day of treatment. For intravenous NAD+, a small IV will be inserted. The infusion will run for approximately 8-10 hours (or 1-2 hours for the reduced dose treatment). Patients desiring a subcutaneous injection need only stay for 5-15 minutes after the injection.
The side effects of treatment are minimal and appear related to the rate at which the NAD+ is administered. At a faster rate, patients may experience slight upper torso and abdominal cramping. Flushing, mild nausea and a slight headache may also occur. These side effects usually disappear within 15-30 seconds of slowing the rate of infusion. Patients are able to pass the time in our relaxing clinic environment by watching TV, reading, and listening to music. You will also have access to high-speed internet and can bring your laptop for personal use.
